Announces Veteran Scholarship Winner’s

The Southwest Veterans Foundation (SWVF) announced the winners of its 2018-2 Veteran College Scholarship Awards today. Four selectees will all receive a $1,000 scholarship.

  • Abner Cassidy is an Navy veteran and student at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
  • Cody Green is an Army veteran and student at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
  • Ray Martinez is an Army veteran and student at Phoenix College
  • Alan McCall is an Army veteran and student at Paradise Valley Community College

Award ceremonies to present the scholarships to each winner will be arranged with them ASAP. Jerry Mosteller, Chair of the Scholarship Selection Committee, noted, “The selection process was very competitive. We congratulate those who were selected and encourage those not selected to reapply to a future scholarship opportunity.” Ryan Hilbun, the new Chair of the Scholarship Committee, added, “We deeply appreciate the financial support from the Southwest Veterans Chamber of Commerce,  those who have donated to the SWVF, and those who attend or sponsor the annual Patriots Ball, our premier fundraising event of the year. It is their support and generosity that make these scholarships possible.”

The SWVF Veteran College Scholarship is open to veterans, currently serving Reservists and National Guard, and spouses and children of veterans killed in service or 100% disabled. The next scholarship opportunity will be released in February 2019 with winners announced on or about May 1. Individuals and organizations can support this scholarship program by joining the SWVCC, by making a donation to the SWVF, or by attending or sponsoring the annual Patriots Ball.
