“Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning On That September Day”

Tom Sheets

In case you don’t know, those are the title words of a song written by country music legend, Alan Jackson after 9-11. This year marks the 21st year since” that September day.” We all remember well “where we were.”

On this 21st anniversary of that terrible day that united our country like never before, we want to honor the heroic service and sacrifices of the First Responders at “Ground Zero.” We also want to honor the service and sacrifices of our service men and women in the years after as they sought to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent it from happening again.

But 21 years later, we also want the families of those who paid with their lives or grievous physical and mental injuries, to know that we have never stopped thinking of you, that we continue to thank you for your sacrifices, and that you too are heroes to us.

If you are reading this, you probably already plan to reflect on “that September Day” this week. May we suggest that in addition to whatever you planned to do, that you again listen to and watch Alan Jackson’s tribute. There are many versions available, but we think this one is the most memorable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPHnadJ-0hE

And maybe…just maybe…in the 22nd year, we can all do something to help bring our country back together as it was after “that September Day.”
