Southwest Veterans Foundation (SWVF) and Angels on Patrol (AOP)
Announce Community Partnership
The SWVF and AoP entered into a Community Partnership Agreement on March 25th at its monthly luncheon at Maggiano’s. Under this agreement, SWVF provided an initial grant of $1,500 that will only be used to support Veterans and their families in need as identified by law enforcement agencies who request support from Angels on Patrol.
AoP was founded in 2009, by Phoenix Police Lt. Jacqui MacConnell after rescuing three children in one of the most horrific abuse cases she had ever experienced in her career as a police officer. AoP responds to requests from law enforcement officers who encounter individuals facing crisis situations or at-risk youth. Their trained staff assist to take over the situation, freeing officers to return to their patrol duties
Last year AoP responded to 428 requests from officers and assisted 2,352 individuals in crisis or at-risk situations. In 14 years, they have touched the lives of 22,160 individuals through over 2,500 requests from police officers. Many of these cases involve heartbreaking situations with children needing immediate intervention and/or lacking the basic life support/coping resources.
Melinda Cadena, Executive Director of AoP thanked SWVF by saying, “Your $1,500 donation will allow AoP to continue to make a profound impact on the community through direct request from law enforcement officers.”
