Each September America shines a light on suicide prevention proclaiming National Suicide Prevention Month. Sadly, Veteran suicide rates far exceed those of the civilian population. Arizona now has the fifth highest Veteran suicide rate among all fifty states. By any objective measure, this is a national tragedy.
To date, the Southwest Veterans Foundation (SWVF) has awarded over $30,000 in grants to grassroots, community-based organizations that are on the front lines of the Veteran suicide prevention fight. Will you join with the SWVF to fight this epidemic and reduce Veteran suicides?
Our goal is to raise $30,000 during September. Every donation regardless of size helps and is appreciated.
There are four ways you can help us reach our goal and fight this epidemic:
- Online at https://southwestveterans.dojiggy.io/support-veterans
- At any Southwest Veterans chamber of Commerce event. https://business.swvcc.org/events/calendarcatgid/6?m=2022-09-01
- By mailing a check to SWVF 3820 W. Happy Valley Rd., #141-455 Glendale, AZ 85310
- By calling 602.677.2961 with your credit card info
On behalf of the Veterans and their families who will benefit from your generosity, WE THANK YOU.
We hope that National Suicide Prevention Month will help illuminate the related epidemic of Veteran suicides nd the need for continued aggressive support of those fighting to combat Veteran suicides. As the blog highlights, Arizona has the fifth highest Veteran suicide rate in the nation. We hope that all will help support the Southwest Veterans Foundation’s efforts to reduce Veteran suicides.
There is so much important work yet to be done. Are you “the one” who will step in and try to save a life? Do you know how? Might I encourage you to take a course to know how to intervene. I highly recommend this one: https://learn.psycharmor.org/courses/va-save
I am so proud of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts to help transform lives and curb suicide. Thank you to everyone who donates their hard earned money to our suicide prevention efforts.
