Southwest Veterans Foundation Announces Four Veteran College Scholarships

 The Southwest Veterans Foundation (SWVF) announced the results of its 2023-1 Veteran College Scholarship Program. Four recipients from the seven highly competitive applicants will receive $1,000 scholarships. This cycle’s recipients are:

Andre Exilien                  University of Arizona                              US Air Force

Brenda Melchor              Arizona State University                         US Air Force

Martha Salter                 Arizona State University                         Spouse of 100% disabled Navy Veteran

Kacie Turley                   University of Arizona                              US Air Force

 

Will Quiala, Chair of the Scholarship Committee, said “we are pleased to be able to support the educational pursuits of these great Veterans who have answered our Nation’s call to duty to defend our freedom and our way of life. This brings to 45 the number of scholarships the SWVF has awarded. We strongly encourage those Veterans who were not selected to apply again in the next scholarship cycle which will be in September.”

Tom Sheets, Executive Director added, “these scholarships are made possible by the donations from our Southwest Veterans Chamber of Commerce members, and our donors, sponsors, and supporters of our annual Patriots Ball, and other fundraising events throughout the year. It is their support and generosity that make these scholarships possible. On behalf of the Veterans and their families who will benefit from their generosity, we thank them all.”

The next scholarship cycle will be announced in early September.
